Minutes for the Plainview Rotary Club meeting, September 15, 12:00 Noon at the Plainview Civic Center.

 

Meeting began with singing (& spelling) “R-O-T-A-R-Y”, and then, “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”

 

Coralyn bragged on Ted and the Walmart Distribution Center for their $2500 grand for HK2020. Chuck bragged on the Plainview EMS for their prompt and professional response when his mother Suzy was hurt at their home. Charles bragged on Pierre being selected to Student Council. Rick bragged on his Alma Mater, Baylor U. football. Rob bragged on Drew being selected as Defensive player of the week [ed. note: Drew was seriously injured this last week, broken arm and surgery, going through recovery]. Ron(?) bragged on the raffle tickets for a Kubota Lawn tractor.

 

Rob led the Foundation dollars game, with Max winning the opportunity to draw for the card. NO DICE! (Roll it back in.)

 

Don announced the F.I.S.H. raffle, Richard announced the Hale on Wheels bike/foot race, and the dictionary distribution sign ups. Buddy announced spots for Meals on Wheels, Dave introduced Betty from the Running Water Draw Arts And Crafts Festival (40th Year!).

 

Cynthia introduced our speakers: Bianca Berumen, Drew Wilkinson, Tanner Morton, and Matthew Holloway, who spoke about their experiences at this summer’s RYLA Camp.

 

We remembered the reasons for what we say and do through the words of our 4-way test, and Ted ended the meeting with the encouragement to ‘Lighten up, Rotary!” through, “Service above Self.”
