The Rotary club of Plainview met for an evening social and mini fundraiser for the Rotary foundations World Polio Day. Pepa Pig ( the queen of the Polio pigs) was in attendance and she collected $168 ( or 1120 vaccination ) from those that attended. As a side note and extra surprise, Rotarian Vernah Ramsower- Sprous a New York Life Agent explained to her fellow agents what Rotary was doing to eradicate polio and they donated another $120..( or 800 vaccinations) Thank you Vernah and the West Texas new York Life agents. Together $288 or 1920 vaccination were raised.. BUT if ad the Bill Gates factor (currently matching Rotarian dollars 2 for 1) makes the grand total $864 or 5760 vaccinations. Afterward several Rotarians attended the Plainview City council meeting where Mayor Wendell Dunlap read and presented the club with a proclamation declaering it World Polio day .
