Club Meeting notes from June 23, 2015

We began the meeting with prayer and  singing.

We welcomed our guest Susan Blackerby, granddaughter of a founding member of the Plainview Rotary. We also welcomed Eloisa's daughter as our guest, and Eloisa bragged on her basketball team for winning the championship. Coralyn bragged on Karen and Jeff Earhart for being the first host parents for our student from Japan. Ted presented a check for $2000 to support Hunger Plus to JB Roberts.

Our Veterans are invited to ride on the float for the 4th of July Parade (which will be held on the 3rd). We will announce other opportunities to participate in next year's Halloween Parade, (which will be held November 1), Christmas parade of lights (January 3), April Fools' Day Parade (March 32nd), Cinco de Mayo (May 4), and, of course, the Juneteenth celebration, which will be held sometime in August.

Ron announced that invoices are available. Ted expressed thanks to those club members who generously donated to help the district reach its Foundation goal.

Eloisa won the chance to draw for the Foundation Dollars lottery, No Dice! (Roll it back in.) Pot now is at $1,978.00, with $989.00 going to the winner. There are 10 cards left!

David Kopp introduced our speaker, City Manager Jeffrey Schneider, who offered an interesting overview of the current state of the city.

Ross led us in the 4 way test of what it means to be a Rotarian, and Ted dismissed us with the encouragement to, "Lighten UP! Rotary," through "Service Above Self."
